Bio

Multi-instrumentalist Alex Kline is among Nashville's

prominent No. 1 hit producers and songwriters. She plays

lead guitar, banjo, dobro, mandolin, bass, lap steel, and

piano and often plays on the records she produces.    

 

Kline recently made history as the first woman to solely produce

a Mediabase No. 1 country hit with Tenille Arts' single

"Somebody Like That."  Kline plays multiple instruments on the

song, co-written with ACM Award nominee Arts and hitmaker

Allison Veltz Cruz for Arts' critically acclaimed album,

Love, Heartbreak & Everything in Between.

Additionally, Kline was recognized by the AIMP Nashville Awards

as a nominee for its Nashville Rising Songwriter of the Year.

Kline has built her career based on her musical intuition and versatility.

She brings out the authentic best in any artist who collaborates with her, whether they are a veteran act or a promising newcomer on the rise.
 

Her songs have been recorded by Ronnie Dunn ("Damn Drunk"), Reba McEntire ("The Bar Is Getting Lower"), Mitchell Tenpenny ("I Get the Picture"), Terri Clark (Raising the Bar album), Gary Allan ("Slide"), Bill Anderson,

Meghan Patrick ("Praying Right"), Cassadee Pope (Rise and Shine album), Jordan Rager (Habits and Hearts album), Mason Ramsey ("On My Way"), Tara Thompson (Someone to Take Your Place album), and many others. 

 

Her production work can be heard on collections by Tenille Arts, Terri Clark, Stephanie Quayle, Tara Thompson, Adam Brand, Jillian Cardarelli, Erin Enderlin, John King, Logan Murrell, Jordan Rager, and Maggie Rose.  In 2019, CMT enlisted Kline to produce the network's "Ram Truck Initiative," which gives developing artists the resources they need to further their artistry.

 

In 2014, Kline signed a co-venture with Erin Enderlin's company 10,000 Hours and Reba McEntire's Starstruck Publishing.  While honing her craft writing for Starstruck Entertainment, she began producing music, becoming one of the few women to take the lead on production in the Nashville music community. To further grow her business, Kline established Alex Kline Entertainment in 2018.

 

Hailing from Minneapolis, MN and then Marin County, Calif., Kline grew up listening to an array of influential artists from Janice Joplin and Jimi Hendricks to The Chicks.  She was inspired to pick up a guitar at age 13 after listening to The Red Hot Chili Pepper's album, Blood Sex Sugar Magic. She realized early that music would be her path in life and learned to play six instruments along the way.  

 

Kline is an alumna of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass., where she studied guitar and songwriting. While there, she took a spring break trip with the college to visit Nashville and, within a few hours, fell in love with the city and its songwriting community. 

 

She moved to Nashville in 2008 to pursue her songwriting career. In 2010, she met the Arciero sisters and formed The Lunabelles, an all-women country band. Kline played lead guitar, banjo, dobro, and mandolin. The group landed a Top 40 hit single with "A Place to Shine" as a signed act with Sony Music Nashville.
